Shelter House in Fort Belvoir, VA seeks a Hypothermia Coordinator (Mon-Fri, 12am-8am) to support the winter program between November 15 and April 1. The role involves setting up spaces, transporting participants in a Shelter House vehicle, conducting orientations, distributing meals, and logging participant information with a focus on safety and confidentiality.

The ideal candidate is compassionate, dependable, and able to manage conflicts calmly while coordinating with case management services.

Responsibilities

• Monitor participant safety and maintain accurate counts.
• Enforce shelter guidelines and respond to conflicts and emergencies.
• Report incidents with dignity and confidentiality.
• Complete intakes, orientations, and paperwork.
• Explain shelter guidelines, schedules, and services.
• Distribute supplies and encourage engagement with services.
• Prepare sleeping areas and manage bedding and supplies.
• Transport participants following routes and traffic laws.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and logs.
• Maintain shelter logs and documentation.
• Communicate concerns to supervisors and ensure shift handoffs.
