Job summary

Swedish Hospital is seeking a Hospital Operator in Highland Park, IL. This full-time role (36 hours weekly) covers evenings and rotating weekends, with shifts 7:00 pm–7:30 am on Thu-Fri-Sat and 6:00 pm–6:30 am on Sundays, plus 3 holidays per year.

You will handle calls, provide information, and direct inquiries while maintaining HIPAA compliance and high customer service standards. Responsibilities include answering calls, routing to departments, taking messages, and coordinating with staff

Qualifications

• 1 year of telephone operator or customer service experience in healthcare.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls professionally and route to the correct department.
• Provide hospital information such as hours, location, and services.
• Record and relay messages accurately to staff.
• Respond to emergencies and code calls with proper coordination.
• Maintain detailed records of calls and communications.
• Assist distressed callers with empathy and professionalism.
• Use paging and intercom systems and troubleshoot issues.
• Follow HIPAA and hospital policies to protect privacy.
• Deliver excellent customer service by addressing inquiries.
