Job summary

MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center is seeking a Business Support Specialist to operate the hospital communications center around the clock. You will greet patients and visitors, direct them to the correct locations, and promote a positive public image while supporting paging, security, and information services.

The role emphasizes professional communication, HIPAA compliance, and courteous interactions with staff, physicians, visitors, and patients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; higher education degree accepted as well.
• Previous experience in direct customer relations/communications center preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft O365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Edge) and Internet required.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 operation/monitoring of communications center equipment and systems.
• Greet patients and visitors, provide directions, and promote a positive image for MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center.
• Receive and route incoming calls via SPOK Console per protocol; manage paging and security calls.
