Job summary

Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa is seeking a part-time Communications Clerk to operate the switchboard and provide top-tier service to patients, physicians, and staff. The role involves paging systems, scheduling, and handling after-hours calls.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and experience with computer operations; training in BLS/ACLS/PALS may be required. Schedule includes day shift with alternating weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• (if applicable) BLS required before employment or within 60 days.
• Experience with computer operations and switchboard preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers phone and directs calls using approved scripting.
• Operates Zetron Paging System to program, exchange, or issue pagers.
• Inputs call schedules into Smartsheet On-Call Scheduling Sheets and updates them.
• Coordinates on-call schedules and posts them online.
• Answers after-hours calls for physician offices and handles emergencies.
• Notifies personnel for weather alerts or mass notifications via Informacast.
• Maintains radio contact with security and engineering; monitors security cameras.
