Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a Hospital Admissions Representative in Long Beach to obtain and verify patient demographics, insurance benefits and eligibility, assign the correct medical record and account number, and support accurate billing and clinical information.

This part-time position offers a varied night shift schedule, including 3 weekends per month and rotating holidays, with schedule adjustments possible based on patient census.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• 0–2 years in a medical setting or heavy customer service with data entry and insurance software experience.
• Current BLS certification from American Heart Association or ability to obtain within 90 days.
• Ability to obtain AVADE training offered by MLK Community Hospital within 30 days from start date.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and verify demographic and financial information from patients and sources.
• Obtain signatures on legal consents and insurance forms.
• Enter data in computer systems and document incomplete admissions/registrations; obtain pre-certification or referral numbers.
• Notify patients and families of insurance coverage issues and required payments; document all information.
• Review physician orders for completeness and ensure all required information is present.
• Complete Medicare compliance steps and obtain ABN if necessary.
• Maintain multiple computer systems and provide excellent customer service at all times.
• Answer calls following script and assist callers; complete shift duties accurately.
