Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health seeks a Security Officer for the Jersey City Medical Center to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff. The role emphasizes vigilance, professionalism, and compassionate customer service as you patrol facilities, monitor access, and respond to emergencies.

The position is Full-Time with a night shift (11:00pm–7:30am). Candidates need a high school diploma or GED, a valid NJ driver’s license, and eligibility for SORA; one year of related

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• NJ Driver's License is required.
• SORA security officer license is required.
• At least 1 year of customer service or security experience preferred.
• Ability to obtain de-escalation training within 90 days of hire.
• Bilingual skills are a plus depending on facility needs.

Responsibilities

• Patrol indoor and outdoor areas to maintain a safe environment.
• Monitor entrances and access control systems and address security concerns.
• Provide professional customer service to patients, visitors, physicians and staff while enforcing policies.
• Perform weapon screenings and control access to designated areas.
• Respond to emergencies and security incidents, supporting crisis de-escalation.
• Complete incident reports and data entry using computer systems and MS Office.
• Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and emergency personnel.
• Patrol the perimeter using a company vehicle.
