Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Security Officer for RWJUH Somerset on the evening shift. This hourly role requires vigilance, professionalism, and compassionate customer service to protect patients, visitors, staff and property.

Responsibilities include patrolling facilities, monitoring access control, conducting weapon screenings, responding to emergencies, and completing incident reports using Microsoft Office. A clean SORA credential, NJ driver’s license, and high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• New Jersey Driver’s License with eligibility to be covered by the employer’s insurer.
• SORA security officer registration required; transfer from out-of-state license within 60 days.
• Ability to obtain de-escalation certification within 90 days of hire.
• At least one year of customer service or security experience preferred.
• Experience with keyboarding, data entry, and Microsoft Office; strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the facility and surrounding areas to maintain a safe environment.
• Monitor entrances and access control systems and address security concerns.
• Conduct weapon screenings and control access to designated areas.
• Respond to emergencies and assist in crisis de-escalation as trained.
• Complete incident reports and related data entry using computer systems and MS Office.
• Communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and emergency personnel.
