Job summary

UofL Health is seeking an Emergency Department Tech to provide clinical patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse at University Hospital - UMC in Louisville. The role includes phlebotomy, EKG lead placement, patient mobility support, and basic bedside care to ACUTE and trauma patients.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or equivalent, completed Clinical Assistant/Medical Assistant or EMT training, and CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate effectively in verbal and written formats.
• Ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed instructions; chart patient data and care instructions.
• CPR/BLS certification and knowledge of basic clinical procedures are required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical patient care support under the direction of a RN.
• Perform venipuncture for specimen collection and label/deliver to laboratory.
• Conduct EKG lead placement and basic vitals documentation.
• Assist with admitting, physical exams, transferring, and discharging patients.
• Transports patients, lab specimens, and equipment; maintain sanitation of devices and areas.
