Job summary

UofL Health is seeking an Emergency Department Tech/Unit Coordinator to provide clinical patient care support under the direction of a RN. Responsibilities include clerical tasks, patient admissions/discharges, venipuncture, EKGs, and trauma care.

The role involves assisting with patient mobility, hygiene, and documentation across multiple systems, ensuring safety and efficient care in a fast-paced ED environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of Clinical Assistant/Medical Assistant/EMT program, or nursing students who completed Fundamentals of Nursing.
• BLS certification required; CNA/CMA/EMT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Measures and documents intake, vitals, height, weight.
• Performs safety checks on high risk patients.
• Obtains timed cardiac markers for life-threatening heart disease.
• Transcribes orders and assists with admissions/discharges.
• Transports patients, lab work, specimens, and blood.
• Assists RN/MD with procedures and sterile set-ups.
• Operates equipment and maintains infection control.
