Job summary

UofL Health is seeking an Emergency Department Tech/Unit Coordinator to provide clinical patient care support under RN direction. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, EKGs, patient transport, and clerical duties in a fast-paced ED environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and completion of a recognized clinical training program; BLS is required. Prior ED experience is preferred. The role supports patient care and safety while coordinating with admitting staff and physicians.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a recognized Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT Training Program, or Nursing Students who have completed Fundamentals of Nursing Course from an accredited school of nursing (preferred).
• Certification: CNA, CMA or EMT preferred; BLS by AHA required.

Responsibilities

• Measures intake/output, heights, weights, and vital signs.
• Performs safety checks on high-risk patients and documents accordingly.
• Performs venipuncture for specimen collection under RN direction.
• Transcribes and enters physician orders into the hospital computer system (SMS).
• Performs 12-lead EKG testing under RN direction.
• Assists with patient mobility, hygiene, and comfort needs.
• Transports patients and specimens to appropriate areas.
• Maintains equipment and follows infection control policies.
