Job summary

UofL Health is seeking an Emergency Department Tech/Unit Coordinator to provide clinical patient care support under the direction of a RN. The role includes phlebotomy, EKG lead placement, triage support, and clerical tasks across multiple computer systems.

The position emphasizes safety, accuracy in documentation, patient mobility, and collaboration with physicians, NP/PA teams, and respiratory staff in a fast-paced ED environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• CNA/CMA/EMT certification or nursing program completion preferred.
• BLS certification required (American Heart Association).
• ED experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Measure and document intake, output, vital signs.
• Perform venipuncture and EKG lead placement as directed by RN.
• Transport patients and specimens to appropriate departments.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and charting in hospital systems.
• Prepare and maintain patient care equipment and supplies.
• Assist with wound care and basic nursing tasks under supervision.
• Support physicians and nurses with procedures and sterile setups.
• Maintain infection control and safety standards at all times.
