Job summary

Wellstar Health System in Georgia is seeking a Patient Flow Coordinator (RN) for the Emergency Department. This full-time night shift (7 pm–7 am) role includes weekend premier differential and collaborates with ED staff to optimize patient throughput and experience.

The RN will participate in policy development, guide care delivery with respect for patient rights, and supervise placement and coordination across departments to ensure timely care.

Qualifications

• RN with nursing degree required.
• BLS certification per AHA required.
• ACLS certification required.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure care respects patient rights, preferences and expectations.
• Participate in policy/procedure formulation affecting patient flow goals.
• Provide staff performance feedback to ED leadership on flow, safety and quality.
• Routinely round in triage, waiting rooms and rooms to oversee patient flow.
• Coordinate with Bed Management, ED providers, nursing, case management and others to assure timely placement and throughput.
• Organize work environment and teams to achieve unit outcomes; coordinate flow in/out of the department.
• Provide leadership through prioritization and communication among healthcare disciplines.
• Monitor ED tracking board and report throughput performance to the team.
• Assist with performance improvement projects related to patient flow and throughput.
• Advise on policy changes to support best practices and patient care.
