Job summary

Wellstar Health System is seeking a Nurse, Patient Flow Coordinator (RN) for the Night shift to optimize patient throughput in the Emergency Department. You will act as a liaison among ED staff, bed management, and other departments to ensure timely patient placement and care that respects patient rights and safety.

The role requires strong communication, proficiency with clinical workflows, and background in nursing. Bachelor’s degree preferred; BLS, ACLS, and RN license required.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in nursing required.
• Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred.
• BLS certification, RN license, ACLS; Trauma course preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensure care respects patient rights, preferences and expectations.
• Lead policy and process discussions affecting patient flow.
• Provide objective staff feedback to ED leadership on throughput and safety.
• Rounding throughout the ED to oversee patient flow.
• Liaise between Bed Management, ED providers, nursing, case management, EMS and others to ensure timely patient placement.
• Coordinate patient flow into and out of the ED and supervise patient placement.
• Provide leadership and prioritization to achieve unit outcomes.
• Focus on patient throughput and patient experience.
• Deliver regular throughput feedback to ED team and stakeholders.
• Participate in performance improvement projects and evidence-based decisions.
