Job summary

Wellstar Health System in the United States seeks a Patient Flow Coordinator (RN) for the Emergency Department to support safe, efficient throughput during the night shift (7 pm–7 am). You will work to respect patient rights and coordinate care delivery.

The role emphasizes collaboration with ED staff, bed management, and ancillary departments to optimize placement and throughput, while leading with clear communication and data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in nursing at minimum.
• Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred.
• BLS certification through AHA required.
• Registered Nurse license required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course preferred.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• ED experience preferred.
• Experience as a charge nurse preferred.
• Effective communication and teamwork essential.

Responsibilities

• Ensure care respects patient rights, preferences and expectations.
• Participate in policy formulation affecting patient flow goals.
• Provide feedback to ED leadership on patient flow and safety.
• Constantly round to oversee patient flow in triage, waiting rooms, and rooms.
• Liaise between Bed Management, ED providers, nursing, and other departments.
• Coordinate patient placement into and out of the department.
• Supervise patient placement and flow, guiding prioritization and decisions.
• Monitor ED tracking board and report throughput performance.
• Participate in performance improvement projects and committees.
• Comply with WellStar policies and code of conduct.
