Job summary

McLane Company, Inc. is seeking a Mechanic II to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on trailer refrigeration systems and diesel engines. You will diagnose, repair, and tune complex mechanical and electrical issues, including engine components, brakes, and suspensions.

The role requires 2 years of diesel experience, ASE PMI certification within a year, and a valid Class C license (Class A preferred). The shift is 10:00PM to 6:30AM with competitive benefits starting after 60 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school in heavy duty diesel repairs and/or refrigeration preferred.
• 2 years' experience in diesel repairs, tractor-trailer, refrigeration maintenance/repairs.
• 1 year experience in fleet maintenance or with Class C Technician level.
• Possess basic hand tools and storage.
• Within 1 year: ASE PMI (T8) certification.
• Valid Class C license; Class A preferred.
• Ability to read/write English to perform tasks safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform Grade 4 Mechanic duties and preventative maintenance on trailer refrigeration.
• Repair both mechanical and electrical systems; diagnose and repair components without supervision.
• Perform engine tune-ups, front wheel alignments, axle alignments, and cooling system diagnostics.
• Cut or weld using torch and welding equipment; use service bulletins/ manuals.
• Maintain shop tools, document work, and follow safety rules.
• Work independently or in teams and participate in on-call rotations and road calls.
