Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown, WV is seeking a part-time CNA to provide direct and indirect patient care under supervision of a registered nurse. You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor vitals, perform basic tests, and help with transportation and examinations to support a family-centered care environment.

The role requires a high school diploma, BLS/HeartSaver First Aid certification within 30 days, and prior patient care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS or HeartSaver First Aid certification within 30 days of hire date.
• Prior patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in direct patient care with basic physical care under RN supervision.
• Help patients with activities of daily living and bedmaking.
• Safely transport patients for tests and discharge, using safety policies.
• Transport specimens and items throughout the facility.
• Perform glucose monitoring, urine/stool testing and log results per policy.
• Conduct routine phlebotomy as assigned by management.
• Record vital signs and weight measurements per policy.
• Provide respiratory support and assist with oxygen setup.
• Encourage use of incentive spirometer per procedure.
• Communicate patient concerns to RN immediately.
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist physicians/ RNs.
• Assist with basic rehab/physical therapy activities.
• Coordinate with RN on nutrition issues and diet changes.
• Provide total care within scope during sitter assignments.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment to prevent infections.
• Keep unit equipment clean and report repairs promptly.
• Support routine unit operations and effective communication.
• Answer calls and relay messages promptly.
