Job summary

WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals is seeking a Licensed CNA to perform direct and indirect patient care under a RN. You will assist with activities of daily living, monitor vitals, and support exams and procedures in a busy hospital unit.

Responsibilities include patient transport, phlebotomy on select units, basic rehab activities, and maintaining a clean environment. A high school diploma and BLS/HeartSaver certification within 30 days are required, with one plus year of patient-care

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assists in direct patient care with basic physical care to promote comfort under RN supervision.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and bed-making as needed.
• Safely transports patients and escorts for tests, procedures, and discharge.
• Transports specimens and items within the facility.
• Performs routine tests such as glucose monitoring and urine/stool testing where permitted; maintains logs.
• Performs phlebotomy services as assigned, excluding line draws.
• Records vitals, intake/output, weights, and other measurements per policy.
• Provides respiratory support with equipment setup for oxygen therapy.
• Observes and reports changes in condition to a registered nurse promptly.
• Assists with examinations, procedures, and basic rehab activities as directed.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment and reports equipment issues promptly.
• Answers calls and relays messages to the appropriate personnel.
