Job summary

Jones Lang LaSalle Incorporated in McLean, VA seeks an Operating Engineer to maintain critical building systems, perform routine maintenance, and support safety and efficiency across properties. The role requires hands-on experience in HVAC, electrical, or related trades and the ability to work an overnight schedule.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, a trade school credential in HVAC/electronics, and universal CFC certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of four years in building maintenance with related trade training.
• Universal CFC certification and trade school credentials preferred.
• Ability to read safety rules, manuals, blueprints and diagnose issues.
• Comfort with lifting up to 50 pounds and working at heights.
• Willingness to work night shift, Wednesday–Saturday 7:30pm–6:00am.
• On-site work in McLean, VA and basic documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, maintenance, repair, and operation of mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Maintain building environments and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
• Learn building automation, controls, UPS, and electrical systems through formal training.
• Complete preventative maintenance, inspections, and service requests as assigned.
• Investigate equipment issues and suggest efficiency improvements.
• Keep electronic records of time tracking and maintenance activities.
• Occasionally serve as on-call engineer for after-hours emergencies.
