Job summary

Electrical Automation Services is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer for the Glendale/Peoria area. You will be the on-shift controls expert, diagnosing PLC/HMI/VFD issues and guiding automation projects across production lines in beverage facilities.

You will mentor technicians, back up control systems, and collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality teams on continuous-improvement initiatives. A strong PLC background and night-shift availability are essential.

Qualifications

Associate degree in engineering technology, information systems, industrial automation and controls, or a related technical discipline.
At least four years of industrial automation or controls experience in food/beverage, pharma, chemical processing or high-speed manufacturing.
Strong PLC troubleshooting and programming capabilities.
Experience troubleshooting automated production, conveyor, and packaging equipment.
Knowledge of HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, instrumentation, networks, and electrical control systems.
Ability to read electrical schematics and control drawings.
Willingness to work a 2-2-3 night schedule from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary on-shift controls and automation expert.
Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 troubleshooting for production equipment.
Diagnose PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, instrumentation, and network issues.
Troubleshoot equipment failures and restore production safely.
Identify recurring problems and implement corrective actions.
Lead controls projects to improve safety, quality, reliability, and throughput.
Support high-speed beverage processing, filling, canning, conveying, and packaging systems.
Mentor maintenance technicians and operators on controls practices.
