Job summary

MercyOne Health System in Elkader, IA, is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our 12-hour night shift team at MercyOne Elkader Medical Center. This 0.9 FTE position provides safe, evidence-based care for acute medical and surgical patients in a rural critical access hospital setting.

The RN will assess patients, develop and implement care plans, coordinate with physicians and the care team, and participate in discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Current Iowa RN license.
• BLS required.
• ACLS required only if telemetry monitoring.
• Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.
• Strong math and language abilities.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Initial patient assessment within 30 minutes of arrival.
• Develop and implement outcome-based care plans with the team.
• Coordinate plan of care with physicians and discharge planning.
• Evaluate progress and revise plans as needed.
• Communicate clinical information to the team and physicians.
• Demonstrate clinical competence and safety practices.
• Manage telemetry/cardiac monitoring when applicable.
• Provide age-appropriate patient care for diverse populations.
• Adhere to safety, infection control and policies.
• Document completely and maintain accurate records.
• Support ongoing education and quality improvement initiatives.
