Job summary

MercyOne Medical Group is seeking a part-time Acute Care RN in Des Moines, IA. The role focuses on providing safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions, including post-operative and telemetry cases.

The RN will supervise nursing staff, communicate with physicians and families, and ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards. Iowa RN license and BLS are required; ACLS may be required if telemetry is used. BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing is required.
• BSN is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides and directs safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions.
• Utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care.
• Manages a diverse patient population including post-operative, medical, telemetry, and neurologic patients.
• Supervises and coordinates care provided by LPNs, Patient Care Assistants, and other nursing team members.
• Facilitates communication with physicians, patients, and families, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Demonstrates clinical competence.
• Monitors telemetry and cardiac monitoring when applicable.
• Provides age-appropriate care to patients on assigned unit.
• Collects, analyzes, interprets and applies age-specific data.
• Adheres to safety, infection control and health policies and procedures.
