Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing required.
• BSN preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license.
• American Heart Association BLS required.
• ACLS required if telemetry monitoring is available.
• Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.
• High language, intermediate to high math, and strong critical thinking abilities.
• Basic computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct an initial assessment within 30 minutes of patient arrival.
• Identify problems and develop outcome-based care plans.
• Implement and coordinate plan of care with the team and physicians.
• Reassess patient progress at least every 24 hours.
• Communicate with physicians, patients, families and the care team.
• Ensure medication safety and proper transcription/ordering per policy.
• Manage telemetry/cardiac monitoring when applicable.
• Provide age-appropriate care and adhere to safety policies.
• Document discharge instructions for patient and/or family.
