Job summary

MercyOne Elkader Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the team for a 12-hour night shift on a part-time basis. You will provide direct, safe, culturally competent care for patients with acute medical/surgical conditions and supervise other nursing staff as needed.

The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, collaboration with physicians and the care team, and a patient-centered approach aligned with MercyOne’s mission. Night shift coverage supports 24/7 patient care.

Qualifications

• Must be a registered nurse (RN) licensed to practice.
• Experience in acute medical/surgical care preferred.
• Ability to supervise LPNs and assistive staff as needed.
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conducts initial assessments within 30 minutes of patient arrival.
• Develops and implements outcome-based care plans.
• Coordinates care with the care team and coordinates discharge planning.
• Manages telemetry and cardiac monitoring as applicable.
• Ensures safety, infection control and age-appropriate care across units.
