Job summary

MercyOne is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 12-hour night shift at Dubuque Medical Center. The RN provides safe, evidence-based care for acutely ill medical and surgical patients and coordinates with the care team to optimize outcomes.

The role requires an Iowa RN license, BLS (ACLS if telemetry), strong critical thinking, and excellent communication skills. Night shifts, weekends, and holidays are part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate degree in nursing; BSN preferred.
• Current Iowa RN license and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• ACLS required only if telemetry monitoring is available.
• Mandatory Reporter training within 3 months of hire.
• Strong clinical reasoning, communication, and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial patient assessments within 30 minutes of admission.
• Develop and update plan of care based on patient problems and data.
• Coordinate care with nurses, case managers, and ancillary staff.
• Reassess patient progress and modify plans as needed (at least every 24 hours).
• Communicate patient information clearly to physicians and team members.
• Assist with discharge planning and patient education.
