Job summary

TriCore Reference Laboratories is seeking a Clinical Lab Assistant - Phlebotomist at University Hospital. The candidate should work independently with minimal supervision and perform multiple modalities; compensation may vary by modalities performed. A paid apprenticeship is possible for those without experience.

Regular attendance during scheduled hours is essential. This role requires on-call duties, weekend/evening/holiday coverage when needed, and strong telephone/communication skills.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver's license and insurability by lab carrier as required by location.
• PBT (ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred.
• Completion of a relevant Clinical Lab Assistant or comparable program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties in a professional and courteous manner.
• Maintains supplies and inventory necessary to perform departmental functions.
• Observe students and/or new staff as needed.
• Exhibits basic problem solving skills to ensure exceptional customer and patient care service levels.
• Responsible for hospital communication responsibilities including on-call duties by location.
• Demonstrates effective telephone and verbal communication skills.
• Exhibits professional judgment when dealing with clients, patients and co-workers.
• Performs clerical functions including documenting critical communications in absence of a supervisor.
• Maintains confidentiality of position and information.
• Participates in on-call coverage and holidays/evenings/weekends as needed.
• Basic PC skills.
