Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCA) for night shift to support bedside care and patient comfort. You will assist with meals, hydration, walking, baths, and linen changes while protecting patient safety.

As a PCA you will document vital signs, observe for changes, and communicate with the RN or charge nurse. This role requires compassion, resilience in a fast-paced environment, and a dedication to quality patient care at IU Health.

Qualifications

• Requires current BLS certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Requires knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patients served.
• Requires up to date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Requires proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Requires ability to maintain concentration amid interruptions and noise.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care such as assisting with meals, mobility, baths, and linen changes.
• Assist the bedside RN by obtaining vital signs and reporting abnormalities.
• Maintain patient safety with gait belts, bed and chair alarms, and close proximity when moving.
• Support patient comfort and dignity in a fast-paced hospital setting.
