Job summary

Wheaton College in Norton, MA is seeking a Custodian for the 3rd shift to provide custodial services, event support, furniture movement, and general facility upkeep across campus.

This is a non-exempt, full-time staff position (12 months) with a Sunday–Thursday schedule from 10:00 PM to 6:30 AM. Applicants must be able to lift 40–50 lbs, follow safety guidelines, and respond professionally to work orders; starting pay is $18 per hour, paid hourly.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to organize workload with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to lift and move heavy furniture and operate bulky equipment.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Custodial Services: clean building areas, furnishings and ensure sanitary environments.
• Waste & Recycling: empty rubbish, replace liners and manage recycling.
• Safety & Security: follow safety rules, report unsafe conditions and maintain secure areas.
• Emergency Response: provide department emergency response services when needed.
• Furniture movement: move and rearrange furnishings as requested for events or campus needs.
• Event Support: assist with event setups, breakdowns and logistics for campus events.
• Service & Support: respond to work orders professionally and promptly.
• Other Duties: perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisor.
