Job summary

Wheaton College is seeking a Custodian for the 2nd shift to maintain a clean, safe, and inviting campus environment. You will perform custodial tasks, assist with furniture movement, support events, and handle routine cleaning and safety procedures on campus.

The role requires ability to follow written and oral instructions, lift 40–50 lbs, and work Tuesday through Saturday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with overtime and shift differential as applicable. A high school diploma is preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload with minimal supervision to meet required deadlines.
• Ability to work independently, resolve problems and function as a member of a team.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedure.

Responsibilities

• Custodial Services: Maintain a sanitary, safe and inviting environment; clean all building areas with proper equipment and safety measures.
• Waste & Recycling: Remove rubbish, empty bins, and transport materials for disposal.
• Safety & Security: Follow safety guidelines and report unsafe conditions; maintain clean workspaces and inventory.
• Emergency Response: Support department emergency services as needed; work overtime and flexible shifts.
• Furniture movement: Move and rearrange furnishings as required for events or campus use.
• Event Support: Assist with campus events, setups and breakdowns; support logistics for programs.
• Service & Support: Respond to work orders and inquiries professionally and promptly.
• Other Duties: Perform additional tasks assigned by supervisor and attend required trainings.
