Job summary

Wheaton College in Norton, MA is seeking a dedicated Custodian for the 2nd shift to keep campus facilities clean, safe and welcoming for students, staff and guests.

Responsibilities include custodial services, waste removal, safety compliance, furniture movement, and event support for campus activities and summer programs. The anticipated hourly rate is $18, with shift differential for hours outside the first shift.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload with minimal supervision to meet required deadlines.
• Ability to work independently, resolve problems and function as a member of a team.
• Ability to lift and move heavy furniture and operate bulky and heavy equipment.
• Physically capable of lifting 40-50 lbs.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety procedure.

Responsibilities

• Custodial Services: Maintain sanitary, safe, inviting environment by cleaning all areas and furnishings with appropriate equipment and chemicals.
• Waste & Recycling: Empty bins and transport rubbish/recyclables; replace liners and signage as needed.
• Safety & Security: Comply with safety guidelines, report unsafe conditions, manage supplies and equipment safely.
• Emergency Response: Provide department emergency response services and work overtime as necessary.
• Furniture movement: Move and rearrange furniture as needed for campus facilities and events.
• Event Support: Assist with campus event setups, breakdowns and logistics.
• Service & Support: Respond to work orders and service requests professionally and promptly.
• Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned and attend required trainings.
