Job summary

Performance Foodservice is seeking a Shuttle Driver to transport empty trailers to warehouses and turn around to deliver full trailers to domicile/shuttle yard locations. This role operates under DOT rules and requires safe handling of equipment and timely communication with customers and teammates.

The position uses a tandem tractor/trailer or straight truck on intrastate routes. Candidate must hold a CDL A with Doubles endorsement, have a clean MVR, be 21+, and pass pre-employment checks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• 12 months commercial driving experience.
• Valid CDL A with Doubles Endorsement.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
• Clean MVR for past 3 years.
• Work required 3rd shift schedule, Sunday – Thursday nights (schedules may vary).
• Pass pre-employment drug test.
• Pass road test.
• Valid current DOT Health Card and/or able to secure new DOT Health Card.
• Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight throughout shift; product generally ranges from approximately 60 to 90 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform all required safety checks (pre/post trip) per DOT regulations.
• Report safety issues or repairs.
• Follow DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines; report hazards.
• Ensure route paperwork is with tractor trailer load and available at dispatch.
• Drive and deliver trailers according to route schedule.
• Perform hook/unhook procedures per safety guidelines.
• Park and store tractor trailers in designated areas.
• Ensure equipment and freight are secured.
• Secure damaged goods and customer returns in the trailer and complete paperwork.
• Unload equipment, materials, and remove trash from trailers.
• Complete daily hours-of-service logs as required by law and company policy.
• Keep tractor and loading dock area clean and safe.
