Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Minneapolis, MN, is seeking a Manager Trainee starting January 2027. Under supervision, you will learn to manage a small driver count, non-traditional shifts, and ensure safe, timely movement of freight while meeting DOT compliance and delivering excellent customer service.

You will develop relationships with drivers and carriers, support fleet operations, payroll, budgeting, and reporting, and prepare operational and financial analyses to drive profitability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combined with experience as specified in the job brief.
• Willingness to travel to account, customer and event locations.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build professional relationships with drivers and carriers for smooth onboarding.
• Cover for absences and work on projects to optimize fleet operations and profitability.
• Learn staff training and orientation for drivers and personnel.
• Improve fleet efficiency and profitability and present customer reporting and financial analysis.
• Gain knowledge to manage inventory, assets, and driver assignments across markets.
• Perform payroll, budgeting, invoicing, and reporting tasks as needed.
• Assist with yard maintenance and coordination with maintenance on fleet issues.
• Coordinate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service and routing issues.
• Support safety programs and DOT compliance within the company culture.
• Plan loads, route freight, and monitor movement to meet customer requirements.
