Job summary

J.B. Hunt in Kansas is seeking a Manager Trainee for a Spring 2027 start to learn the management of a small driver count and/or non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, while ensuring safe and timely movement of freight and best-in-class customer service.

The program trains individuals to comply with DOT regulations, handle payroll and budgeting tasks, and develop reporting and planning skills through hands-on experience with drivers, carriers, and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or GED with 1 year of related experience.
• Willing to travel to accounts and events when applicable.
• Ability to work across nights and weekends if needed.
• Willingness to regional relocate depending on account assignment.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build positive relationships with drivers and external carriers to set up new carriers and maximize productivity.
• Learn to manage driver training/orientation and assist with internal and customer systems.
• Improve fleet operations, measure KPIs, and prepare customer reporting and financial analysis.
• Gain knowledge of inventory, assets, and driver assignments to balance equipment in the market.
• Perform payroll, Net-Revenue budgeting, driver counseling, and invoicing as part of admin duties.
• Assist with yard management, maintenance scheduling, and safety compliance activities.
• Coordinate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and routing challenges.
• Contribute to safety culture through messages, briefings, and trainings; enforce DOT compliance.
