Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn and support the management of a small driver count and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends.

You will ensure safe, timely freight movement, load assignment, and best-in-class customer service while training to comply with DOT regulations. The role involves building carrier relationships, driving operational improvements, and providing reporting and financial analysis at customer locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Transportation/Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field OR High School Diploma/GED with 1 year of experience in management, transportation/logistics, business administration, account management, or related field, and/or equivalent military experience
• Willing to travel to account, customer, and company event locations when applicable
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
• Willingness to regionally relocate dependent on account assignment

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with drivers and outside carriers to ensure seamless new carrier set-up and productivity
• Fill in for absent personnel and on special projects related to optimizing fleet operations and profitability
• Train drivers and employees on internal and third party systems
• Improve fleet operations, measure KPIs, and present customer reports and financial analysis at customer locations
• Manage inventory, assets, customer pools and driver assignments to balance equipment
• Perform payroll, budget management, driver counseling, accident reviews, and invoicing and reporting tasks
• Manage yard operations and coordinate maintenance for on-time safety services
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and company personnel to resolve service issues and plan routes
• Maintain safety culture with daily driver safety messages, monthly briefings, training, and compliance with DOT safety requirements
• Assign loads and plan/monitor freight movement to meet customer requirements and adjust ETAs
