Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Critical Care Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) for the Saint Louis facility. The role focuses on high‑quality care for intermediate‑acuity patients moving from critical care to Med/Surg, with a night shift and full-time schedule.

You’ll collaborate with physicians and a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe hand-offs and optimal patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will hold an RN license in Missouri (or a compact state), with BLS required and ACLS/NIHSS/PCCN preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (ADN, Diploma, or BSN).
• BSN preferred.
• Current Missouri RN license or compact license.
• BLS certification required; ACLS, NIHSS, PCCN or related certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care for intermediate-acuity patients transitioning from critical care to Med/Surg level.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care using evidence-based practices.
• Perform accurate hand-offs and bedside shift reporting to maintain patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practitioners, and multidisciplinary partners to optimize patient outcomes.
• Administer medications, monitor complex conditions (cardiac, respiratory, post‑ICU), and support recovery.
• Participate in huddles, shared governance activities, and unit-based quality improvement initiatives.
