Job summary

Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis, MO, seeks a New Graduate or Experienced RN to join the Stepdown to ICU Career Pathway in 12-18 months.

You will provide patient care using the nursing process, collaborate with care teams, and uphold Mercy Service Standards. The role offers a structured RN Residency Program with mentoring, hands-on training, classroom sessions, and leadership coaching to help you grow into an autonomous ICU nurse.

Qualifications

• RN licensure in Missouri or compact state within eligibility window
• BSN preferred; ADN acceptable with commitment to further education
• BLS certification required within 30 days of hire
• New graduates welcome; hospital experience encouraged but not required

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care using the nursing process and coordinate with care teams
• Support stepdown to ICU pathway development over 12-18 months
• Ensure patient rights and confidentiality of patient information
• Participate in RN Residency Program and mentorship
• Assist with care planning and documentation as part of a collaborative team

Qualifications

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Nursing Diploma
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Licensure

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri or compact state eligibility

Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association within 30 days of hire

Experience

New graduates strongly encouraged to apply

Previous hospital experience helpful but not required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Frequent standing and walking throughout shifts
