Job Description

Scholastic Book Fairs are in-person experiences that empower kids to discover books for themselves. They take place in schools and align with Scholastic’s mission to use the power of books for the betterment of all kids. Fairs bring communities together and raise funds for schools, making a positive impact on literacy and education.

We are seeking New Business Sales Representatives to help secure new opportunities and grow the Book Fair business. In addition to base pay, there are seasonal and annual incentives based on sales performance.

The qualified candidate will meet sales goals by effectively executing sales and service strategies, supporting our mission to promote reading and lifelong learning, and embodying our values of caring and respect.

Job Overview: If you are passionate about education and reading, join Scholastic Book Fairs as a New Business Sales Representative to build relationships with schools, expand our reach, and foster a love for reading while supporting schools in fundraising efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prospecting: Research and identify potential school and district partners, initiate outreach via calls, emails, and social media to decision-makers like Principals and School Administrators.
  • Lead Qualification: Assess prospects' needs and interests, set appointments, and pass qualified leads to Account Managers.
  • Relationship Building: Establish rapport with educators and administrators, emphasizing the benefits of Scholastic Reading Events.
  • Pipeline Management: Maintain accurate records in CRM, track progress toward goals.
  • Collaboration and Strategy: Work with the sales team to improve outreach strategies and stay informed on industry trends.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Book events from prospecting lists and identify opportunities through grants, non-profits, and corporate channels.
  • Coordinate revenue-building activities and maintain detailed activity records.
  • Prioritize tasks, recognize issues, and adjust strategies to meet goals.
  • Support customer satisfaction through effective sales and service execution.

Customer Focus:

  • Develop and maintain customer relationships, understand their needs, and deliver value.
  • Build rapport, address concerns, and ensure positive customer experiences.

Teamwork:

  • Partner with operations, share updated customer information, and foster collaboration.
  • Contribute to team performance, suggest improvements, and build internal and external relationships.

Functional Expertise & Personal Effectiveness:

  • Support our mission and demonstrate our values.
  • Implement new technologies and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and attend events as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of successful sales experience, including retail or territory sales, event management, and customer service.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM systems.
  • Knowledge of children’s literature and school activities is a plus.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and marketing skills.
