Job summary

Exelon is seeking a design engineer to develop drawings and BOMs for complex utility infrastructure projects across generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecom systems. You will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely installation, modification, or removal of projects.

The role requires strong CAD skills, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to interpret electrical and mechanical systems, with a focus on safety and reliability in a large utility

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field and 0-3 years of technical experience, an associate's degree in a technical field and 2-5 years of relevant technical experience, or 5-7 years of technical experience or equivalent education if non-degreed or a non-technical or engineering degree.
  • Successful completion of the TECH test. (A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university exempts the TECH Test requirement.)
  • Ability to analyze and interpret electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge and ability to apply problem-solving approaches.
  • Knowledge of construction, operations or engineering principles and practices.
  • Proficient Computer Drawing and Computer Assisted Design skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develops designs, layouts, construction drawings, and a bill of material for relatively complex systems and on a number of smaller projects or portions of a larger project for the installation/removal/modification of utility infrastructure on Exelon's electric generation, transmission, distribution, gas and telecommunication facilities/systems.
  • Interprets and applies engineering standards and memos.
  • Assists with technical consultation, plan developments and recommendations for customer and company systems and processes; (e.g. Verify and validate studies, blueprints, or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices)
  • Evaluates effectiveness of current design processes. Participates on teams; (e.g. Design high voltage transmission and distribution circuits, meeting all engineering standards and criteria)
