Job summary

The Medical Assistant / Care Coordinator will manage daily clinic operations, room patients, record vitals, and support physicians with referrals and documentation, delivering exemplary patient service.

Responsibilities include scheduling, chart preparation, order entry, and ensuring HIPAA compliance while maintaining stocked, clean exam rooms and efficient workflows.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; Medical Assistant program preferred.
• 1–2 years in a fast-paced medical office or specialty surgical setting.
• Proficiency with EMR systems (AthenaOne preferred).
• Excellent verbal and written communication with empathetic bedside manner.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet and room patients, take vitals, and record initial assessments in the chart.
• Prepare and run daily clinics with minimal supervision.
• Screen calls, manage templates, and coordinate referrals.
• Maintain inventory and stock clinic rooms.
• Open chart encounters in EMR and ensure records are uploaded.
• Input orders, manage E-Prescribe, and generate visit summaries.
• Track recalls, tests, and follow up on non-compliant orders.
• Register new patients in the EMR and verify demographics/insurance.
• Schedule appointments for consultations, imaging, labs, and PT.
• Coordinate surgeries, pre-authorizations, billing docs, and FMLA/disability paperwork.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and complete annual training.
