Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) in Amarillo seeks a Network Specialist I to provide intermediate computer systems and network support for agency IT systems. The role involves moving, adding, and changing equipment; monitoring LAN/WAN; and ensuring secure, reliable network performance.

Responsibilities include user training, after-hours availability, and occasional travel up to 30% within the Texas Panhandle. This is a nonexempt, full-time position with a Day shift.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting desktop operating systems, preferably Microsoft Windows, in a local or wide area network.
• Experience providing hands-on technical support with customers on computer hardware and software issues with an emphasis on excellent customer service.
• Ability to train others on technical issues and/or agency procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide intermediate computer systems and network support for agency information technology systems.
• Move, add, and change equipment; monitor LAN/WAN and ensure network performance.
• Install, test, and maintain network hardware and software.
• Provide user support and training on available hardware, software, and utilities.
• Work after hours or weekends as needed for after-hours support and emergencies.
• Travel up to 30% within the Texas Panhandle and occasional out-of-town travel.
