Job summary

Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) in Houston, TX, seeks a Network Specialist I to provide moderately complex computer systems support and customer service for agency IT systems. The role involves setting up hardware, software, and cables, and assisting with network maintenance.

The position offers a day shift, full-time hours, and a comprehensive benefits package. Two years of relevant experience and an associate degree are preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in PC troubleshooting and customer service.
• Two years’ experience in technical (computer) support providing direct end-user technical support and desk-side PC repair services.
• Graduation from an accredited two-year college with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or a related field is generally preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide user support for agency IT systems and operate office equipment in stand-alone, network, or mainframe environments.
• Maintain network operating systems and security software, including user access rights.
• Communicate with vendors, users, management, and network staff; assist with evaluations of new hardware and software.
