Job summary

Northern Base in Reno, NV is seeking a senior network engineer to support and optimize our data-center and enterprise networks. You will lead advanced troubleshooting across LAN/WAN/DC and security domains, and mentor junior staff while driving high-availability designs.

The role requires hands-on experience with Cisco ACI, Palo Alto devices, IPSec VPNs, and Infoblox. Excellent communication and independent work style are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Must have hands-on experience implementing and supporting Cisco ACI (policy model, contracts, EPGs, fabric health).
  • Ability to administer Palo Alto Firewalls including security policies, NAT and VPN features (IPSec, site-to-site, remote access).
  • Experience managing enterprise WLAN design, RF optimization, roaming, and high-density deployments.
  • Ability to design, configure and troubleshoot IPSec VPNs with multi-vendor interoperability.
  • Familiarity with Infoblox DNS/DHCP/IPAM, grid management, failover and automation integration.
  • Strong networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, QoS, multicast.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot Level 3 and advanced network issues during live calls in high-pressure environments.
  • Investigate root causes, test solutions, and suggest fixes to reduce ticket resolution times.
  • Manage equipment and software upgrades for network devices.
  • Understand support priorities and actively contribute to objectives.
  • Lead technically on operational issues, coordinating with multiple stakeholders during live troubleshooting.
  • Assist Level 1 & 2 resources to address network-related issues.

Job description

Must Have Technical/Functional Skills
  • Expert in implementing, and support Cisco ACI (policy model, contracts, EPGs, fabric troubleshooting).
  • Administer and troubleshoot Palo Alto Firewalls including:
    • Security policies, NAT, routing
    • VPN (IPSec, site-to-site, remote access)
    • Panorama management and threat prevention profiles
  • Manage and support enterprise wireless networks (Cisco, Aruba, or equivalent), including RF optimization, roaming, and high-density deployments.
  • Design, configure, and troubleshoot IPSec VPNs, including third-party interoperability.
  • Administer Infoblox DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM) including grid management, failover, and automation integration.
  • Lead hands-on P1 troubleshooting for complex network issues across Application, LAN, WAN, DC, and security domains.
  • Real-time packet capture skills to investigate complex issues during live P1 calls. (Wireshark)

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Troubleshooting the Level 3 and advanced network issues and performing call backs ensuring issues are resolved & appropriate solution is provided to the customer in a high pressure factory environments
  • Responsible for investigating causes, tests solutions & suggest solutions in place to reduce the time taken to resolve the network related tickets.
  • Manage new and existing equipment, hardware, and network device software upgrades.
  • Understanding Network support priorities and objectives and taking an active role in accomplishing them.
  • Should be able to lead and drive technically the Operational issues on his own in a high pressure environment engaging multiple stakeholders during live troubleshooting.
  • Help level 1 & level 2 resources to address the Network related issues.
  • Strong understanding of network routing and switching protocols required.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Resourceful, with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task activities with shifting priorities.
