Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Seattle is seeking a Network Development Engineer to join AWS Core Networking. You will partner with infrastructure teams to deploy scalable networking designs, build automation, and sustain complex data-center networks that power EC2, S3, and more.

The role requires hands-on network engineering, scripting, and collaboration across software, systems, and hardware teams. You will operate 24x7 on-call for critical events and travel to data centers as needed.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl.
• 4+ years of network engineering and deployments for large-scale networks in a corporate environment.
• 4+ years of network, system, or software architecture experience.
• 4+ years of technical support experience, or experience handling customer escalations.
• 1+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with our automation teams in defining the tools that allow us to scale at higher volume.
• Lead network projects in the areas of network sustaining engineering, deployment, scaling, technology refresh, and optimization.
• Sustain AWS networks for large customers by diagnosing, mitigating impact, and resolving large-scale events.
• Operate and troubleshoot routing, interconnectivity, platforms, performance, and configurations; including Unix systems and networking software tools.
• Partner with the broader Network/Infrastructure organization on standards and tools.
• Collaborate with Network/Systems/Software Engineering for rollout and sustaining of networking software tools.
• Maintain standards across the networking toolset and ensure compliance with policies.
• Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
• Create and review documentation and process for deployments and recurring issues.
