Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Network Development Engineer to build, deploy, and scale the Amazon networks that support AWS across global datacenters. You will work with a diverse team of engineers to ensure high availability, reliability, and efficiency of core networking infrastructure.

The role emphasizes deployment, scaling, and sustaining engineering, with collaboration across networking, systems, and software teams to deliver repeatable solutions and robust tooling.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of automation scripting using Python, Bash, Shell and/or Perl.
• 8+ years of major internet routing protocols experience.
• 5+ years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement changes on the network.
• Work closely with automation teams in defining tools to scale at higher volume.
• Lead network projects in sustaining engineering, deployment/implementation, scaling, and optimization.
• Sustain AWS customers' networks by diagnosing, mitigating impact, and resolving large-scale events.
• Operate and troubleshoot routing, interconnectivity, platforms, performance, and configurations with Unix interactions.
• Drive innovation from Top of Rack to Network Border and beyond.
• Partner with Network/Infrastructure for standards and tooling.
• Collaborate with Network/Systems/Software teams for fast roll-out of new designs.
• Maintain standards across the networking toolset and ensure compliance.
• Deliver simple, sustainable, repeatable solutions and processes.
• Collaborate with escalation engineers and create/deploy docs and SOPs.
