Job summary

Shermco Industries is seeking a Field Service Technician - Electrical Testing to perform electrical testing, maintenance, and repair on distribution systems and equipment at customer sites. You will travel regionally with a team to collect data and ensure safety and quality.

The role requires NETA certification or equivalent, 2+ years of testing experience, strong PC skills, and ability to read schematics. Travel up to 40% and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• Requires NETA certification (I, II, III or IV) or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant switchgear testing experience.
• Proficient PC skills; Excel; PowerDB experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and data collection on LV/HV systems.
• Perform instrument transformer tests and power transformer testing (Doble, TTR, insulation resistance, etc.).
• Test both electro-mechanical and solid state relays; perform cable testing (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot).
• Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches and high/low voltage switchgear; light on-site diagnostics.
• Light to moderate relay calibration and power metering; respond to emergencies as needed.
