Job summary

Shermco Industries is seeking a NETA Field Service Technician to perform electrical testing, maintenance, and repair on distribution systems and equipment across customer sites in the United States. The role includes travel, safety adherence, and on-call responsibilities to ensure high-quality service.

The position requires relevant experience, EPC/EE degree or military equivalent, and NETA certification if possible. A valid driver’s license and ability to travel at least 40% are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be able to drive daily locally/regionally with overnight travel.
• Associate's degree in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC) or an EE degree is preferred; military training acceptable.
• NETA Certification (I, II, III or IV) or similar is desired.
• 2+ years of experience in switchgear testing & troubleshooting.
• Good PC skills: email, internet, data entry, Excel; PowerDB knowledge a plus.
• Must adhere to electrical safety procedures and be able to read/write/speak English fluently.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, start-up and collect data on LV to HV (480V–600kV) systems.
• Perform instrument transformer tests and power transformer testing (Doble, TTR, insulation resistance).
• Test electro-mechanical and solid state relays; cable testing (Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot).
• Troubleshoot automatic transfer switches and test low/medium/high voltage switchgear and breakers.
• Perform moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
• Rotate on-call duties and respond to emergencies timely.
