Job summary

Shermco Industries in Sulphur, LA seeks a NETA Field Service Technician to perform electrical testing, maintenance and repair on distribution systems. You will travel to industrial and commercial sites to inspect, test and collect data on voltage levels from 480V to 600 kV, and support start-ups with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

The role requires 2+ years in switchgear testing, NETA certification preferred, and ability to drive locally with periodic overnight travel.

Qualifications

ABET- or EPC-related degree or military equivalent.
NETA Certification (I, II, III or IV) desired.
2+ years of switchgear testing and troubleshooting experience.
Strong PC skills including Excel; PowerDB is a plus.
Safe work practices and electrical safety procedures.

Responsibilities

Travel to customer sites to inspect, test, troubleshoot and data-collect on low to high voltage systems.
Perform insulation, transformer, relay, and switchgear testing and calibrations.
Test transformers: power, instrument; test relays and metering equipment.
Conduct cable tests: Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, Hipot.
Troubleshoot ATS, switchgear, and circuit breakers; respond to emergencies as needed.
Uphold safety and report results accurately; work with team on startups.
Rotate on-call duties and support customers with timely service.
