Job summary

Amentum is seeking experienced Software Engineers to join our Dahlgren, VA team supporting Naval projects and the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) program. This on-site role requires strong coding skills in C, C++, Java, or Python and the ability to collaborate across teams to deliver mission-critical software.

Qualifications

• Experience: 10+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field. Equivalent experience may be substituted for the education requirement.
• Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
• Other: Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive on and off base as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform software development in one or more of the following languages: C, C++, Java, or Python.
• Support senior Amentum developers in advancing software capabilities for critical defense systems, following Agile development principles.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to design, implement, and maintain software solutions for Naval projects and programs.
• Work within established timelines to meet project goals in a schedule-driven environment.
