Job summary

Amentum is seeking software engineering professionals to support Naval projects in Dahlgren, Virginia. This on-site role focuses on software development and integration with a team dedicated to modernizing the Navy and delivering mission success.

You will contribute across multiple contracts in our Software Center of Excellence, working within Agile environments to develop, test, and deploy weapon system software. Strong communication and DoD-specific experience are valued.

Qualifications

• 1–10 years of experience in software development or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, physics, mathematics, engineering, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with Agile Development.
• Excellent communication skills, able to interact with customers and engineering personnel at all levels.
• Active Secret U.S. Government clearance (US citizenship required).
• Valid REAL ID driver’s license and access to reliable transportation; occasional travel between local sites.

Responsibilities

• Support Naval projects and programs by conducting software development within the SLBM weapon system.
• Primarily support a Senior Amentum developer using Agile development principles.
• Demonstrate expertise in software requirements, architecture, and testing.
• Support modern weapon system software development, testing, and deployment processes.
• Utilize C, C++, Git, Jira, and static code analysis tools in development activities.
• Apply modern software practices including Agile, Scrum, and DevSecOps.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including industry and other government organizations.
• Work independently and with others to meet goals and schedules.
• Perform analysis and problem-solving for professional scientific and engineering work.
• Pursue professional development and continuous learning.
• Identify and secure future work aligned with mission and objectives.
