Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Superintendent to oversee daily operations on a project site, including scheduling, production, and material procurement. The role involves traveling on-site to multiple project locations and coordinating with the Project Manager, subcontractors, and clients to ensure timely completion.

The ideal candidate has a construction management degree or equivalent experience, 5+ years in ground-up commercial projects, and proficiency in blueprints and CMiC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, particularly in the light industrial and/or cold storage sector.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes.
• Has a valid driver's license and is able to travel to and from the project site.
• Understands and applies building codes and other design requirements; reads blueprints accurately.
• Has good understanding and knowledge of subcontractors' scopes of work and tolerances.
• Has good written and verbal communication skills; basic Spanish preferred.
• Has good administrative skills: monitors progress and coordination of work activities.
• Has good management skills: establishes techniques to monitor and supervise the work of subordinates.

Responsibilities

• Study specifications to plan procedures based on schedules and staffing requirements.
• Coordinate project schedule with Project Manager using look-ahead schedules.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to conform to work schedules.
• Inform all parties of construction issues and progress; coordinate with subs and clients.
• Resolve labor disputes and coordinate with supervision and vendors to resolve problems.
• Inspect progress to ensure conformance to specs and schedules.
• Work with Craft Resources to move personnel between projects and manage labor costs.
• Assist in preparing the Project Management Plan and ensure policy compliance.
