Job summary

C.P. Bourg Inc. is seeking a hands-on National Field Service Technician to join our Technical Service team.

This field-based role involves diagnosing, repairing, installing, and training on our inline and offline feeding, binding, and booklet‑making equipment across the Americas. The successful candidate will work independently at customer sites, travel extensively (50–75%), and use diagnostic tools and manuals to ensure reliable operation of sophisticated printing machinery.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, or servicing mechanical equipment or industrial machinery.
• Practical understanding of mechanical systems, moving components, machine assemblies, and equipment operation.
• Ability to diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and perform repairs using tools and documentation.
• Basic electrical and electromechanical troubleshooting, including motors, sensors, switches, drives.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, service manuals, and diagrams; electrical schematic experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills for diagnostics and service reporting via a laptop.
• Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, organize service activities, and decide in-field.
• Valid driver's license; ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to travel extensively and respond to customer needs on short notice.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical problems on industrial printing and finishing equipment.
• Perform hands-on repairs, machine adjustments, component replacements, mechanical alignments, and calibration.
• Troubleshoot machine assemblies, motors, drives, sensors, actuators, feeding mechanisms and other components.
• Install, assemble, commission, test, and validate new equipment at customer locations.
• Identify root causes and implement lasting repairs.
• Perform inspections and preventative maintenance for reliability.
• Use drawings, schematics, service manuals, and diagnostic tools to resolve problems.
• Provide remote troubleshooting by phone and determine when on-site visits are needed.
• Train customers, dealers, and partner technicians on operation and maintenance.
• Support equipment demonstrations, trade shows, and product launches.
• Use laptop/software for diagnostics, configuration, updates, and service docs.
• Document service visits, replacements, and findings accurately.
• Maintain spare parts coordination with customers and teams.
• Build strong customer relationships with professional communication and dependable service.
